Mix 1/2 cup butter, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup applesauce ~ I used cherries. Sift and add 2 cups flour, 1 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. cinnamon. Stir in the following: 1 cup raisins, 1/2 cup nuts, 1 tsp. vanilla. Mix well and spread batter into greased 9 X 13 pan. Batter will be somewhat thick. Bake 40 minutes. Frost while still warm.

This recipe works well with lots of fruit. This has been successfully made with 1 cup applesauce, fresh apricots, fresh prunes, fresh peaches, and this today was fresh cherries. I made the frosting a with just water, vanilla and powdered sugar. I always double this and it works fine, it fits in a jelly roll pan. Thanks for Buzzing by,
