Hamburger Casserole

*Hamburger Casserole

Brown together: 2 lbs ground beef, 1 chopped onion, salt and pepper to taste.  Add 1 Tablespoon flour, 2 cans cream of mushroom soup and 2 cans water.  Simmer together for a few minutes.  Pour into a 9 x 12' pan.  Top with Crunch Dumplings.  Bake at 400 for 20 minutes.

Crunch Dumplings

2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1 teaspoon dry onion
1/2 cup melted butter
fine dry bread crumbs

Cut shortening into flour and seasonings.  Add milk (makes a wet dough).  Dip teaspoons of dough into melted butter.  Roll in bread crumbs.  Place on meat mixture of casserole.

This is the 1st thing I ever cooked for my husband.  He really likes it.  He says I should give it 5 stars!  Try it out and see how your family likes it.  (I only made a half of the recipe since that is enough for my family.)  It's easy to adapt to fit how many you need to feed.  Enjoy!!
