Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread

1 can canned pumpkin
2 eggs
1 1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup oil
1 2/3 cup flour
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup semi chocolate chips

- this recipe came from the Food Nanny.

I don't add semi sweet chips.  I add white, I leave the cloves out also.

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. generously grease and lightly flour a 9x5x3 in. loaf pan.

In large bowl whisk together the pumpkin, eggs, sugar and oil.  Sift the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and baking powder in a bowl.  Stir into the pumpkin mixture and combine, but do not over mix.  Stir in the chocolate chips.

Scrape the batter into the prepared pan and bake 55- 65 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean, but not dry.  Do not over bake; the bread should be moist.  Cool in the pan on a rack for 10 min.  Turn out onto the rack to cool completely.

Nut lovers variation:  Substitute chopped nuts for the chocolate chips.

These were baked by our niece.  Thanks for sharing!  :o)
