Delicious Cinnamon Rolls
If you really really want your husband to know you love him, make him these. My husband loves them more than anything I cook!! I hope yours will enjoy them too!
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 Tablespoons active dry yeast
1/2 cup lukewarm water
flour as needed (sifted) ( approximately 4 1/4 to 4 3/4 cups)
2 eggs
Filling
After dough is rolled out spread melted butter all over it. (I use a little pastry brush.)
Sprinkle a cinnamon and granulated sugar mix over the butter~
Sprinkle brown sugar over the cinnamon ~
Sprinkle raisins over the brown sugar~
Instructions:
Scald milk. Combine milk, shortening, sugar and salt in bowl. Cool to lukewarm.
Sprinkle yeast on lukewarm water; stir to dissolve.
Add 1 cup flour to milk mixture. Mix with your mixer or by hand. (I use my Bosch and I love it!) After it is mixed well, add eggs and yeast.
Slowly add in flour a little at a time to make a soft dough that leaves the sides of the bowl.
Place in a covered bowl and let rise until doubles. Punch it down and let it rise again. After it has raised a second time punch it down and shape into cinnamon rolls.
Pictures are above:
I roll it out in a rectangular shape then put melted butter all over it. I then put a cinnamon and sugar mixture on top of the butter. Next I add brown sugar and then raisins. Then I roll it up and cut the dough. You can make them whatever size you like but my family likes them big. For this recipe it would make my family 12 large cinnamon rolls. After slicing the dough place them on a greased baking sheet, cover with a clean dish cloth and let rise. Bake in a 375 degree oven until golden brown. *Most people would make about 24 rolls out of this recipe. However since we like them big I always 4 times the batch and make 48 large cinnamon rolls. Then I frost with cream cheese frosting. Recipe is listed on it's own post.
Enjoy!!!
